  • Reports to: Nondestructive Testing Manger

    Department: Nondestructive and Technical Services

    Position Summary: The Level II Technician will be performing calibrations, Nondestructive Tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Level II Technicians are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of NDT Trainees. Level II Technicians organize and report results of NDT.

    Essential Duties (include but not limited to):
    • Perform RT, MT, PT, and VT inspections to ASME, AWS and API 1104 standards.
    • Evaluate and interpret results per code of construction and/or customer requirements.
    • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers.
    • Records inspection reports, issue rejection documentation and maintain records, data, logs, etc.
    • Prepare inspection/examination reports in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Set up and maintain NDT equipment in accordance with federal/state/local requirements.
    • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follows safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Reports safety incidents to supervisor.

    Other Duties:
    • Provide support to mechanical and welding department.
    • Responsible in overseeing and instructing trainees while in training for certification as delegated by Nondestructive Testing Manager.
    • Participate in training/learning other positions.
    • Makes recommendations for improvements to work processes.
    • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote. quality; Able to approach/evaluate a problem from many angles.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • ASNT Level II
    • Knowledge of ASME BPVC Section I, VIII, IX, B31.1 and B31.3
    • Knowledge of relevant API and AWS Codes.
    • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products.
    • Pass an annual eye exam.
    • Agree to pre-employment and random drug alcohol testing.
    • Agree to criminal background check.
    • Physical ability to walk/climb through pipe and lift 50lbs.

    Beneficial Attributes:

    • CWI.
    • Ability to administer PQR’s and write WPS’s.

  • Performs welding, mechanical and troubleshooting duties to satisfy project requirements primarily in a power plant environment.

    Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

    • Perform mechanical, technical and/or welding activities primarily at field locations.

    • Perform grinding, cleaning, cutting and general physical labor.

    • Work to drawings, and written or verbal instructions.

    • Set up and operate equipment.

    Other Duties:

    • Performs other duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of applicable services and techniques.

    • All certifications, licenses and qualifications required by codes, standards and regulations.

    • Familiarity with power plants and related equipment (boilers, pipe, valves, tubing, turbines, pumps and hangers).

    • Knowledge of OSHA safety issues.

    • Measuring and fabricating ability.

  • The position involves Field Service Engineers having experience with engineered pipe supports.

    We would also be willing to train individuals to have the appropriate experiences and motivation.

    The fieldwork will be performed primarily at electrical generating facilities, paper mills, petrochemical plants, etc. located throughout North America along with some limited international travel. The in-house portion of the position involves the preparation of reports and proposals to address the issues identified from inspections along with repair planning. Specific assignments including the revision and development of related technical procedures will also apply.

    Essential Duties:
    The individual should be capable of the following;
    • Travel to specific job sites within the US and abroad.
    • Inspection and evaluate piping/support systems.
    • Prepare technical reports detailing inspection results, subsequent recommendations, and conclusions.
    • On-and off-site assistance in troubleshooting.

    Ideal qualifications:
    • AS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
    • Familiar with engineered pipe support and restraint products.
    • Mechanically inclined.

    The applicant will be working remotely, although the home base for the positions is Providence, Rhode Island.
